Graduated ND Filters

Graduated Neutral Density Filters have an ND coating on one half of the filter so that light is diminished across half your frame. This is so you can balance your exposure when there is a strong source of light coming from one side – like when you’re shooting in the forest, in the mountains or at sunset and sunrise. A Graduated ND Filter helps you balance the highlights and lowlights for more balanced exposure.

A Reverse Graduated ND Filter starts with the darkening in the centre of the frame and it fades across the top half of the frame to cut brighter light at the horizon while still capturing the details of the sky for balanced exposure when shooting sunrises and sunsets. By effectively darkening the horizon line across your frame, it allows you to capture greater detail in the highlights near the horizon and in the lowlights in the top and bottom of your landscape images.

A Centre Graduated ND Filter has a narrow band of darkening across the centre of the frame for balanced exposure when shooting sunrises and sunsets. By effectively darkening the horizon line across your frame, it allows you to capture greater detail in the highlights and lowlights of your landscape images when the light source is close to the horizon.
