Our ND8 Filter Plus+ blocks a fixed 3 f-stops of light allowing longer shutter speeds for long exposure, motion blur effects in low light, and cinematographers can use it to achieve more cinematic effects. Our ND1000 Filter Plus+ blocks a fixed 10 f-stops of light for super long exposure and motion blur effects in bright light.

How to Use

The Essentials Filter Kit Plus+

1/6

Find your filter size
Inquisitively search lens for diameter symbol. Ø often marks the spot. The diameter you seek may be accompanied by a number – Ø58 or Ø58mm. Look to the side and the front – this precious number is your filter size. Be warned: your lens focal length (e.g. 18-55mm) is not your filter size.
The Essentials Filter Kit Plus+

2/6

Place flat and screw clockwise
Gently behold lens in one hand and place flat on lens. Slowly screw clockwise until just firm. Do not over-tighten that which goes on must one day come off.
The Essentials Filter Kit Plus+

3/6

UV Shoot as usual
Our UV Filter doesnt affect exposure settings so you can boldly shoot wherever your heart desires knowing your photos will be sharper and your lens will be protected against the elements.
The Essentials Filter Kit Plus+

4/6

CPL Twist it until you see it
Tenderly rotate the outer rim of your CPL Filter and watch as the level of polarization and colour vibrancy changes. For best results, adjust your exposure setting or a 1.33 f-stop light reduction and ensure the sun is at 90 degrees to your lens filter.
The Essentials Filter Kit Plus+

5/6

ND8 Slow your shutter, open your aperture
The 3 f-stop darkening of your images allows you to slow your shutter speed for motion blur effects, or open your aperture for depth of field effects in low light.
The Essentials Filter Kit Plus+

6/6

ND1000 silky motion blue
Slow your shutter to adjust for the 10 f-stop darkening and achieve stunning long exposure images in bright light. For best results, use a tripod and a timer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a UV filter do?

UV filters sharpen your photos and protect your lens.

By cutting UV light’s blue haze, our UV Filters improve sharpness and clarity in your photographs, and protect your camera lens from scratches, dirt, dust, and grime. Using a UV filter doesn’t affect your camera settings, which means you can leave it on your lens at all times.

Which UV filter should I buy?

Let the quality of your lens guide your choice. Or simply go for the best – our professional Plus+ range.

Urth has two different ranges of filters: Urth (our premium range) and Urth Plus+ (our professional range). Let the quality of your lens guide your decision. If you’ve invested in a professional-quality lens, we recommend you match its quality with our Plus+ range. Our Urth range is the perfect option for all other standards of lens.

Who should use a UV filter?

Beginners, amateurs, professionals – anyone who wants sharper images.

A UV filter cuts ultraviolet light to sharpen your images and protects your lens against scratches, oil, knocks, and water.

How does a UV filter sharpen my photos?

By cutting out ultraviolet light’s blue haze.

UV light’s blue haze softens details and image quality, especially on hazy days. Our range of UV filters cuts our 99.6% of ultraviolet light for sharper details.

Which range of UV filters is best for telephoto lenses?

Our Plus+ range is best for telephoto lenses.

Because of the amount of glass in a telephoto lens, opting for the best quality UV filter will help you capture sharp, high-quality images and protect your lens.

Which range of CPL should I buy?

Let the quality of your lens guide your choice. Or simply go for the best – our professional Plus+ range.

Urth has two different ranges of filters: Urth (our premium range) and Urth Plus+ (our professional range). Let the quality of your lens guide your decision. If you’ve invested in a professional-quality lens, we recommend you match its quality with our Plus+ range. Our Urth range is the perfect option for all other standards of lens.

How do I get the most out of my CPL?

Use the 90-degree rule, then back it off a bit.

To achieve the strongest polarization possible, the reflected light source needs to be at 90-degrees to your CPL. To check this, make an L-shape using your thumb and index finger. Point your thumb at the lens and wherever your index finger is pointed, that is the angle that will achieve maximum polarisation. Sometimes at full polarization, the effect can look unrealistic so we suggest you back it off a bit for a slightly softer polarization.

Can I use your CPL with wide-angle and telephoto lenses?

Yes, we recommend our Plus+ range for telephoto lenses.

Make sure you have the right size filter and you’re all set. All our filters are designed with a super slim rim to minimise any vignetting that can occur with wide-angle lenses. Because of the amount of glass in a telephoto lens, Ous Plus+ range will provide the best image quality.

What's the difference between circular and linear polarizing filters?

A circular polarizer blocks reflected light from any angle while a linear polarizer only blocks reflected light from one direction.

A CPL offers more versatility and works better with digital cameras. Both linear and circular polarizers look the same, and they both do the same thing – reduce reflections on non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass and wet surfaces, and they increase colour saturation too. A CPL filter is essentially a linear polariser with an extra glass element that allows you to adjust your lens filter to block polarised light from different directions.

Does a CPL affect my exposure?

Yes but only a little – 1.33 f-stops.

A CPL filter will reduce the amount of light reaching your sensor by about 2 f-stops.

What's a filter kit?

A consciously curated collection of lens filters designed to give you more creative possibilities in different conditions.

Urth filter kits are a smarter way to buy a collection of filters. They also come with top and bottom lens caps for safe and easy storage in your kit.

Why buy a filter kit?

A filter kit offers you the flexibility to carry different filters in your camera bag using minimal storage.

Our filter kits come with top and bottom lens caps for compact storage and protection while your filters are in your bag. Filter kits provide a huge number of possibilities when shooting and can help you better adapt to extreme shooting conditions.

Who should buy a filter kit?

Photographers who like being equipped with options for unpredictable lighting conditions on their next adventure.

When you're stepping into the unknown, having options can be the difference between heartache and happiness. You don't know whether you'll need a CPL filter, ND filter, UV filter, or a colour filter, and when you're equipped with our filter kits, you'll be ready to shoot whatever the weather is doing.

What are the best filter kits for beginners?

The Essentials Kit Plus+ is the best filter kit for beginners.

For those starting our with lens filters, The Essentials Kit Plus+ offers a range of our best-selling lens filters and countless new creative possibilities.

What's the best filter kit for travel photography?

Great combo

Great kit for everyone, I would like to have ND16 or 32 instead 8 but perfect combo for photography.

I found CPL filter to be better than Hoya Nano filters on wider lenses.
